Get the freshest produce in town by visiting the Downtown Lee’s Summit Farmers Market, located at the corner of Second and Douglas streets in Downtown Lee’s Summit. The Market is open from 7 a.m. to sell-out Wednesdays and Saturdays, and is made up of more than 50 vendors featuring a variety of fresh produce, plants, meat, baked goods, handmade crafts and much more. The market is open April 1 through Nov. 18, 2017. Convenient parking can be found in the lot next to the Farmers Market on Douglas Street, or at the City Hall parking garage at the corner of Second and Green streets.

Honeybee Keeping 301: Seasonal Management

In this class we will concentrate on the yearly hive and bee management by the beekeeper for seasonal change. We will look at how to inspect the hive in each season and the timing of hive maintenance. You will learn how to check for food stores, and when and how to feed bees in the winter, along with spring build-up feeding and medication. In the beginning of the class we will demonstrate a “refresher” of hive maintenance, fall honey harvest, journal entries, and proper set-up of the hive in the apiary.

Oktoberfest 2017

The Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in the annual Oktoberfest, September 22 and 23, in beautiful Downtown Lee’s Summit. Oktoberfest, presented by Pinnacle Bank, features an Arts and Crafts showcase, a German Biergarten with authentic German food and beverage, German music and dancers, with continuous live entertainment on three stages, Kids Street, carnival rides, contests and much more fun for everyone in the family. Over 70,000 visitors attend the free, family event each year. Join more than 70,000 visitors for the Lee’s Summit Chamber’s Oktoberfest in historic Downtown Lee’s Summit.  Enjoy two stages of live entertainment, a Biergarten, German meals, carnival, free children’s activities, handmade arts & crafts booths and more!  This family -friendly festival has been a community favorite for more than 25 years.

The festival runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on September 22, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on September 23, and 10 a.m. to noon on the 24 - CARNIVAL only.
