Seven Stages: A play about caregiving & living with dementia

Seven Stages Seven Stories premiered in the KC Fringe Festival as a collaboration between Arts & AGEing KC and the Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter and received ‘Best of Show’ recognition. It was also presented at the first Global Conference on Creative Aging in Washington DC in 2016.

Every sixty-seven seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.  Arts & AGEing, KC (AAKC) has created an innovative and powerful way to raise community awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.  Seven Stages Seven Stories is an original self-revelatory play that has grown and evolved organically out of personal interviews, support groups and processes of deep listening.   Many people have shared their life stories, and AAKC has designed a process to weave them together with spoken word, dance, music, and poetry.
The play evolves, taking on a different flavor with different actors, storytellers, and stories.  The stories are true.  All the stories are shared openly with care, with love, and with laughter. In the world of dementia, things are not always what they seem. Time and space become subjective as living with dementia emphasizes moment-to-moment living.  Seven Stages  Seven Stories© allows the audience to experience the disease process firsthand and learn about memory loss...  More >>
